Kerman Morsalin hospital, belonging to Church Mission Society hospitals, is an example of such hospitals built under the supervision of British doctors in Iran. This hospital, listed as one of the Iranian national heritage, is considered as one of the first contemporary hospitals of this city. But, there was no evidence about its construction date. Therefore, I used the Interpretive-Historical methodology by organizing and analyzing historical documents to discern the early history of this hospital. The aim of this research was to find out when the Morsalin hospital was built. Medical activities of the Church Mission Society, with the cooperation of Dr. Griffith, began in 1901. At First, there was not a special place to work and hence, he started treating patients at home. However, thirteen years later, in 1914, Dr. Dodson started constructing the hospital. Traditional medicine is a major part of this long history. World Health Organization (WHO) encourages all countries to extend their complementary and traditional medicines and support trained practitioners in this field. This strategy can lead to finding new treatments and opening new horizons to the herbal medicine researchers. Nowadays, a movement toward the integration of traditional and complementary medicine into mainstream medicine is evident. Iranian Traditional Medicine (ITM) remedies, similar to other branches of complementary and alternative medicine, have been documented to offer the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. According to the principles of ITM, the production of abnormal “Humours” in human body can trigger a process through which a disease occurs. Heartburn is known as “Horqat” in ITM. Phlegmatic Horqat occurs due to the presence of abnormal “Phlegm” in the stomach. Phlegm creates heartburn usually after a meal and at the beginning of gastric digestion. There are several single and compound herbal treatments for Horqat in ITM. In this article, a novel treatment of GERD in Greek and Iranian traditional medicines called Jovārish-e Jālīnūs (Galen’s digestive) has been introduced.}, keywords = {Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD),Heartburn,Iranian traditional medicine (ITM),Phlegm,Horqat,Jovārish-e Jālīnūs}, url = {https://rhm.sums.ac.ir/article_42883.html}, eprint = {https://rhm.sums.ac.ir/article_42883_90c95a7906c2dc7ea770549a76e5409e.pdf} } @article { author = {Kiani, Hosein}, title = {Ibn Nafis’ Style in the Book “Alshamel fi Sana’at tebbi’at”}, journal = {Journal of Research on History of Medicine}, volume = {2}, number = {2}, pages = {-}, year = {2013}, publisher = {Shiraz University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2251-886X}, eissn = {2251-886X}, doi = {}, abstract = {Man from the beginning, to keep his health, tried to identify the food and medicine so that he could keep himself healthy. This experience has been passed over from generation to generation. Scientists and physicians, wrote books about the science of medicine to transfer these experiences to posterity. Each of these books has been written in a style or method and if we become familiar with these styles it will help to understand them. This article is going to consider the style of Ibn Nafis’ in writing “Alshaml fi Sana’at Tebbi’at”. For achieving this goal, the descriptive and analytical method is selected. The results show that Ibn Nafis’ has been chosen a new approach for his book. This approach had avoided the deceased method in repeating the entries of drugs and expressed the animal, vegetable and mineral drugs that had been available for the physicians. The writer used the classification of the materials to convey the content to the reader and in each entry, mentioned the nature and actions of drug in organs. Modes of reasoning, analogy, repetition, redundancy are the most used styles of the author in the book.
